My husband and I knew that when we discovered Jayden plays and learns differently, he was truly a special kid! Even though he struggles due to his autism symptoms - he truly has some amazing academic talents that teachers and therapist would never know if we didn't tell them or if Jayden didn't show them.

Jayden (4 years old) writing in cursive!

He's quite a Unique Learner

Who wants to learn in the traditional way? Not Jayden. When I sit back and observed how Jayden is an autodidact, it blows my mind. This kid taught himself how to write in cursive at the of age 4! He loves watching YouTube kid videos, but his interests in academic YouTube videos for kids is quite interesting. Most kids don't care to learn through YouTube especially if there are entertainment videos available. I mean who wants to watch a "Writing Without Tears" tutorial? Jayden! He would gather a dry erase marker and board and go to town. His teachers and Occupational Therapist were amazed by his ability to teach himself this writing technique. I definitely added this skill to his IEP in the Parent Input section! It's certainly not required in school, but kids will need to develop this skill eventually when they start signing their names to get a drivers permit or even when applying for a job. I appreciate and love the fact that my kid took the time to practice writing in cursive and he does it really well! Oh, did I fail to mention, he loves it!

Handwriting Without Tears (Resources)

Jayden's previous private Occupational Therapist was the first to tell us about Writing Without Tears. We loved the program and it sure helped Jayden to practice and refresh those basic writing skills that are essential for school.

There are several free practice sheets available here: (376) Pinterest
